Red Dead Redemption Shots Get Fancy

Just how fancy is the latest batch of screenshots from Red Dead Redemption? By the numbers: six ties, eight mysterious bottles, nine hats--including two top hats and a bowler-- two old timey pocket watches, one cigar, and, amazingly, only three guns.

You can do the actual math yourself, but over here that all adds up to pretty darn classy. Now if the game would just stop getting delayed, the latest of which pushed the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title back to May 18 (North America) and May 21 (Europe).

ESPN reporter's stalker gets 30 months in prison

An insurance executive who secretly shot nude videos of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews has been sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison.

Michael Barrett pleaded guilty in December to interstate stalking after prosecutors accused him of shooting the videos through hotel peepholes in three cities. He was sentenced today in a federal court in Los Angeles after he made a tearful apology.

Barrett, a 48-year-old from west suburban Westmont, agreed to a 27-month prison sentence after pleading guilty.

But Andrews called him a sexual predator and angrily argued in court for him to be sentenced for as long as the law allows.

Andrews works as a sideline reporter for ESPN's game telecasts. She will also appear on the new season of ABC-TV's "Dancing with the Stars."

Jackson Boulevard bridge to close tonight

Metra is advising customers who use Chicago Union Station that the Jackson Boulevard bridge will be closed to pedestrians beginning this evening at 8 p.m. through 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

During this time Union Station users must take either Adams or Van Buren streets to cross the Chicago River.

The closing is necessary to complete balancing of the bridge, which has been closed to vehicles for several months for repairs.

Additional bridge closings are expected over the next few weeks, Metra said.

The Chicago Department of Transportation is repairing the bridge as well as rebuilding the Jackson Boulevard viaduct between Canal Street and the river. The viaduct spans Union Station's south passenger platforms and 16 tracks.

The work, which started last June, includes building new piers, superstructure, roadway and sidewalk.

New Lenox man charged in attempted child abduction

A New Lenox man is in jail in Joliet after allegedly trying to lure a 12-year-old girl into his truck, authorities said.

Charles R. Walls, 44, of the 100 block of Roberts Road, is being held in the Will County Adult Detention Facility in lieu of $250,000 bail. He was booked on charges of attempted abduction and indecent solicitation.

Deputy Chief Mike Trafton said Joliet police are sending a laptop computer seized from Walls' vehicle to the FBI computer forensics lab.

Trafton said that about 7:10 a.m. Friday, a man driving a pickup truck called to a 12-year-old girl standing alone on the 1000 block of West Jefferson Street, and "waved a handful of money at her."

The girl fled, then used her cell phone to call her mother, who phoned police as she drove to join her daughter.

Police searched for the truck, which allegedly bore the name "Walls Roofing." Within an hour, police spotted a vehicle fitting the description and took Walls to the police station...

Ruling expected end of the month in abortion notification case

A Cook County judge said today he'll rule March 29 on whether to dismiss a lawsuit that has halted Illinois' abortion notification law.

The 1995 law, which has been delayed in court and never enforced, would require doctors to notify a parent or guardian when a girl 17 or younger seeks an abortion.

In November, the Illinois medical disciplinary board decided the state could begin enforcing the law. Hours later, Judge Daniel Riley granted a temporary restraining order sought by the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois. The state later filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

Lawyers for the ACLU have questioned whether the law violates the Illinois Constitution's guarantees of privacy and due process and the state constitutional ban on gender discrimination.

The restraining order was based on a lawsuit filed by a Chicago physician and a Granite City women's medical clinic who believe the notification law is unconstitutional and would h...

Daley names 2 to City Council: state lawmaker, businessman

Mayor Richard Daley made two appointments to vacant City Council seats today, naming a state lawmaker for the 29th Ward and a businessman for the 1st Ward.

In the 29th Ward, left vacant last month when former Ald. Isaac Carothers pleaded guilty in federal court to a bribery charge, Daley appointed state Rep. Deborah Graham, who now represents residents in the Austin neighborhood and Oak Park.

In the 1st Ward, where former Ald. Manny Flores gave up his post two months ago to become the chairman of the Illinois Commerce Commission, Daley appointed Proco "Joe" Moreno, the vice president of a graphic arts and printing company who lost a 2008 contest for the state Senate.

The City Council must sign off to make the selections official.
